As if on cue, I saw the first Blue Tit chicks this morning. Instead of the usual eight to ten there were only about four as far as I could see. I don't think there is any doubt that our really dreadful weather has accounted for a lot of this years chicks. I took the attached pics this morning.
I have been rather concerned about a nest of Eastern Rosellas I have. The hen adopted her usual practice of leaving the chicks for ever increasing periods regardless of the state of the weather. No doubt wild birds do the same? However, they survived and are making enough noise for birds double their size!
